“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
–Martin Luther King Jr.
For all of us who understand that every person has a right to know his true biological heritage, and that of course includes free and unfettered access to his original birth certificate, and to every person who fights to keep families together whenever possible instead of unnecessarily tearing them apart, I want to say this:
We can’t give up because WE ARE RIGHT AND WE KNOW IT!
We are not the first people in history who had to fight tooth and nail for a just and righteous cause. The abolitionists had so much opposition that it caused a civil war. The suffragettes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries had to chain themselves to the White House fence. To end segregation in the twentieth century, civil rights advocates in the 1960s had to stage sit-ins in Greensboro, North Carolina for six months, while the people of Montgomery, Alabama had to boycott the city bus system for nearly a year at great danger and inconvenience to themselves.
For of this we can be certain: We are as right as Martin Luther King Jr. was right. We are as right as Rosa Parks was right. We are as right as Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were right. We are as right as John Henry Newton, a slave trader turned abolitionist, who wrote the hymn, Amazing Grace, was right. We are as right as the landmark 1967 Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia was right.
So let us remind those who stand in our way that we will never ever, ever give up.
WE ARE RIGHT AND WE MUST NEVER FORGET IT!
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES ABSOLUTELY!
