Some states have passed laws requiring men to add their names to a Putative Father Registry if they want to be contacted before an adoption is finalized for a child they fathered with a woman to whom they are not married. In some states, this must be completed within a certain amount of time before or after the birth of the child. Please be aware many states do not consider ignorance of a pregnancy or birth an excuse for not adding your name to a registry. This list below may not be complete or all-inclusive.
We recommend you contact a lawyer to establish your parental rights as these registries DO NOT establish parental rights.
